EMERIL’S….TWENTY YEARS LATER…

EMERIL’S…TWENTY YEARS AGO. At the door stood Eric Lindquist to greet you. The restaurant was one of the first in a new section of town known as the Warehouse District. Chef was a young Emeril Lagasse from the kitchen of Commander’s Palace. The food was New Orleans electric. The atmosphere was loud, informal and festive. It was, without a doubt, THE place to be….I can still remember it as if it were yesterday.
Fast forward twenty years……the first weekend of Jazz Fest and the PGA Golf Tournament. The restaurant was packed….clearly still THE place to be! At the door….you guessed it…..Eric Lindquist (Emeril’s VP) along with GM Kevin Delaune….both smiles and warmth as always. In the kitchen was Executive Chef David Slater, Corporate Executive Chef Chris Wilson and the man who started it all…Emeril Lagasse. The food was STILL New Orleans Electric! The atmosphere festive as always and it was great to feel twenty years younger! It’s good to see some things remain true to self and city. Thank you to everyone at Emeril’s for keeping that light burning. We need it. Happy 20th!
